Dual Enrollment programs allow high school students to earn college credit toward a post-secondary diploma, certificate, or degree at a Florida public institution while enrolled in high school. Benefits of participating in dual enrollment programs include:
- reducing the cost of future college enrollment,
- providing students with more rigorous and in-depth content information in some academic areas,
- credits earned can be transferred to the student's post-secondary institution for credit towards a college degree.
Dual Enrollment courses are free to DCPS students including registration, enrollment, and/or lab fees. Grades earned in dual enrollment courses are added to the student's high school and college transcripts and impact both GPAs. There are specific eligibility criteria for enrollment and limitations on course selection. Riverside High School offers three dual enrollment programs: Early Admit, Early College, and Traditional Dual Enrollment.

College-Ready/Post-secondary Readiness Scores
Students must earn college-ready scores in Reading, Writing, and Math through the ACT, SAT, or PERT to meet eligibility guidelines for dual enrollment. The PERT is offered at Riverside for free every month (see below for more details). Check the ACT/SAT Information page for more information about these tests.
PERT details:
- Is a computer-based test.
- Provides a score at the time of test completion.
- Is divided into three sections: Reading, Writing, Math.
- Students may take each section of the PERT up to five times.
- Students must wait a certain number of days between attempts (currently: 30 days).
- Students must attempt all sections the first time taking the test, then can select which sections to retake.
- PERT scores are valid for two years. Students may restart their "attempt count" if a score expired.
- Students should not attempt the math test more than one time before enrolling in Algebra 2.
- Students in the Early College Program will begin taking the PERT in November of their 9th grade year.
- Students not in the Early College Program may start taking the PERT during their 10th grade year. Students are required to register for the PERT, if they are not in the Early College program.
PERT Testing schedule: 1st Wednesday of each month for Early College students; 3rd Wednesday of each month for non-Early College students. Please contact our Testing Coordinator, Ms. Parton, for more information regarding the PERT.
